Thanksgiving in Cairo
Thank God for Lucille's, an American restaurant in Maadi which offered a Thanksgiving special. It was 100 LE ($18) after drink, tax, and tip.
Getting ready to dig in with, from left, Joe, Sam, (me) and Lev
The feast. Clockwise from left: Turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, cranberry, greenbeans, and stuffing.
Success.
The reward. Pumpkin pie. But pale in comparison to the Adland family recipie.

Trip to a small village in the Nile delta

Allah, left, and Assem took us to their village. Allah is a security guard at the dorms.

Assem shows us the "loof." When it dries, it looks like a sponge. Think "loofa."
