A long section of the Steps of Repentance. Follow the raised rocks. The steps were build by a monk hundreds of years ago. There are 3750 in total, and they lead from the Monastery at the foot of the mountain all the way to the summit. We took them down, but some people take them up as well.
Putting things in perspective.
I thought this rock looked like a head or helmet from the side.
Landis and Thomas climbing down an alternate route.
A big boulder.
At some point, people built small rock statues that dotted a portion of the stairs.
The mountainous view seen through an archway along the Steps of Repentance.
There are a number of archways as you follow the steps.

At the base of the mountain is St. Catherine's monastery, named for a Christian woman killed in Alexandria. The monastery has watched over Mt. Sinai for centuries.
The green plant is supposedly a descendent of the biblical Burning Bush. It is kept at St. Catherine's Monastary.
